Why do pools need to be chlorinated?


Chlorine is a necessity to any swimming pool or standing body of water as it prevents bacteria growth and inhibits insect growth. When chlorine is added to swimming pool water, the chlorine break down the cell walls of bacteria and microorganisms by working on the lipids and destroying enzymes. If you plan on keeping water on your swimming pool then you need chlorine in your pool. If you are sensitive to chlorine, there are options that work just as effectively but are slightly more expensive to maintain which are salt water pools. The salt water generators required in these pools are more expensive that automatic chlorination systems.
