The first replastering step is to cut the plaster underneath the tine line to determine the scope of the replastering project. If the inground swimming pool needs to be completely re plastered, the plaster will be cracked and loose down to the gunite pool frame. If the degradation of the plaster is just on the surface, we will not need to re-plaster the swimming pool. Instead, we use a process called bond coating. Bond coating is the preferable method to replastering as it is very non labor intensive (compared to replastering) and it represents a significant cost savings for the pool owner.
If bond coating is not an option, we need to re plaster or resurface your pool with any new aggregate plaster mix in (quartz or pebble). This process begins by chipping the existing plaster of the pool away. If you want new tile as well, we will chip the tile away at this time. When the chipping process is complete, your swimming pool is stripped almost down to the original gunite (shot crete) level.
After the plaster is chipped away, we will install any new tile then re-plaster or refinish the swimming pool with your chosen swimming pool surface (pebble or quartz). When plastering & tiling is complete, we will fill your swimming pool. Water must not be turned off when the swimming pool is being filled. Nothing should be added to the pool and the swimming pool should not be used at this point until it is done being filled. Your swimming pool should fill within 24 hours and is ready for startup 24 hours later.
